Agora Science Experience Centre

The Agora Science Experience Centre is a new facility, a new attraction in the region, where exciting adventures and life-changing experiences are guaranteed for all ages.

The Agora Science Experience Centre is located in the Botanical Garden of the University of Debrecen. In the laboratories of the three-storey modern building, visitors can explore the mysteries of physics, chemistry, biomedicine, hydrobiology, botany and robotics; in the observatory they can study celestial phenomena.

At Agora, play and fun are combined with learning; children and adults can discover special tools, scientific curiosities and extraordinary and spectacular experiments. The wonders of science and nature are present in our lives in countless ways. Every day we use the technical innovations that physics, chemistry and other disciplines bring us. But do we know how the world around us works?

The Agora Science Experience Centre makes science and the everyday wonders of our lives accessible and experiential.

Permanent programme

In the Interactive Space of the Agora Science Experience Centre, you can try out more than forty special games closely related to a scientific phenomenon. The centre also offers a choice of educational lectures and experimental demonstrations several times a day, starting at 14, 15, 16 and 17 h on weekdays and running every hour from 11 to 17 h on weekends. For a detailed programme, please visit www.agoradebrecen.hu.

Look for the colours!
We see objects as having a certain colour because they reflect only a single colour component of the composite white light. An apple is red, grass is green. In a special room in the Agora, anyone can experience that colour perception is not so simple. Here, the light is not white but a monochrome yellow, so everything looks yellow, as if you've stepped into an old black-and-white film. The room is filled with playful activities for young and old.

On Sundays, children can enjoy exciting science adventures as part of the educational programme. The one-and-a-half-hour sessions will give participants an insight into the mysteries of different scientific disciplines.
What was the largest dragonfly that ever lived on Earth? How sharp is the vision of these colourful creatures and what special body parts do they have? Our activity gives children a glimpse into the extraordinary lives of dragonfly families.
Recommended age: 8-12 years
You can participate in the programme with a ticket to the Agora. The number of visitors is limited, so it is advisable to register in advance. Pre-registrations are welcome at regisztracio@agoradebrecen.hu. The one and a half hour session starts at exactly half past ten, meeting in the reception area.
