Past and present meet in the Hortobágy with its mirages. Three days in the land of the herdsmen !
In the past decades, the Hortobágy Horse Days have grown into a significant event in the region, which is known across national borders.The main aim of the event is to promote the past and present of the pastoral culture of the Hortobágy, the work of the Mátai Stud Farm and the collection of horses still in use and in operation. The Hortobágy Horse Days are a summary of Hungarian equestrian life, including professional riders as well as amateurs and horse-loving adults and children.
The Hortobágy Horse Riding Days, with its half-century history, is a grand old event at the national level: the events will take place on the grounds of the stud farm, which has been in existence since 1671, preserving the atmosphere of the old horse riding days, while presenting various segments of today's equestrian life, with the Hortobágy wilderness, which has been a World Heritage Site since 1999, providing an excellent backdrop and setting.
