At one of Hortobágy’s most spectacular traditional autumn events, shepherds and their animals prepare for winter in accordance with old folk customs. At the herding ceremony, visitors can see the puszta’s characteristic animals and shepherds up close: Hungarian Racka sheep, Nonius horses, a team of buffalo, Hungarian Grey cattle, as well as shepherds, horse herders and cattle herders, all parade across the iconic Nine-Hole Bridge.
At the event organised in conjunction with the Hortobágy National Park Directorate’s Crane Festival, visitors can look forward to stage performances, folk and nature-themed games, craft workshops, Ferkó Kádár’s Photo Theatre and a craft fair.
