On 10 November 2026, from 7.00 pm, the Kodály Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra’s concert in Hajdúszoboszló will take the audience on a journey into the world of the Viennese waltz.
The evening’s programme traces the development of the Viennese waltz through the works of famous composers. The programme includes pieces by Joseph Lanner, Johann Strauss, Antonín Dvořák, Johannes Brahms and Richard Strauss, amongst others.
The Viennese waltz became one of the most distinctive symbols of Vienna’s musical and cultural life in the 19th century. Originally a popular ballroom dance, it was elevated to the status of an art form thanks to the work of Lanner and the Strauss family, and later inspired numerous significant composers.
