National Library Days in Hajdúszoboszló

From 5 to 10 October 2026, visitors are invited to enjoy a range of free events as part of National Library Days. Throughout the week, the programme will feature book launches, literary and community events, a book club, a drawing competition and a book fair.

5 October (Monday), 5.00 pm
My grandmother explains – A journey through time to Szatmár with film, sound and text
An interactive book launch by the author Adrienn Csepelyi.

6 October (Tuesday), 5.00 pm
Fantasy Book Club
A brand-new book club for lovers of fantasy books and stories.
Location: adult library

7 October (Wednesday), during the day
An unconventional literature lesson Gábor Bessenyei with a children’s and young adult author, for organised school groups.
The programme is fully booked.

7 October (Wednesday), 5.00 pm
Reading as mental wellbeing – literary therapy at the library
Subject: „One is defenceless when one loves” – The armour we weave around ourselves
The session will be led by Ildikó Szilágyi, a bibliotherapist.
Participation is subject to prior registration; the maximum number of participants is 12.

From prison back into society
Márta Takács-Miklósi, an assistant lecturer at the Department of Cultural Studies and Humanities, Institute of Education and Cultural Studies, University of Debrecen, will be holding an interactive book launch.

What makes you happy? Announcement of the results of the school art competition entitled [Title].

6–9 October – during opening hours
Book Fair
Anyone interested can „adopt” books that have been removed from the collection.
Location: the square in front of the adult library

During National Library Days, everyone is welcome to register free of charge. This week also marks Forgiveness Week, during which all late return fees under 5,000 Ft will be waived.

As part of the programme series, prizes will be awarded to both the youngest and oldest members of the library.
