Pusztai Zoo-Hortobágy

The Pusztai Zoo in Hortobágy presents the old Hungarian domestic animal breeds living in the Carpathian Basin, the different ways of keeping them and the material means of keeping them.

Pusztai Zoo opened its doors to visitors in 1997, 2 km from the village of Hortobágy. The aim was to present the old Hungarian domestic animals in a living environment. During a walk in the Pusztai Zoo, visitors can get acquainted with the Transylvanian bald-necked hen, the Parlag goat, donkey, racka sheep, mangalica, hucul horses, Hungarian grey cattle and the domestic buffalo. In the petting zoo, children can meet sheep, goat goats, donkeys and feed them zoo treats.

After a walk and a visit to the animals, you can cook in the kitchen in the ironing room, and pull your child around the park in a small cart.

On the occasion of important holidays, the Pusztai Zoo offers special family programmes, which have been a great success with both adults and children every year.
