The exhibition spans the end of the 19th century and the 20th century. Within this time frame, it presents the oeuvres and careers of artists with different interests and literary qualities. The common point is Hajdúszoboszló, the awareness of their origins and the fact that they created here.
The exhibition highlights Ernő Szép (1884-1953), who created a lasting value in the first half of the 20th century in all three genres of fine literature (poetry, prose, drama). First known for his poetry, he became a popular playwright (today he has a playwriting prize to his name), but he also wrote novels and short stories.
He was a distinctive and central figure in Hungarian literary life at the time. He was a contributor to the leading newspaper of the period, Nyugat. Although he was not a member of any literary group, he maintained friendly relations with authors at the forefront of Hungarian literature.
Thus, he maintained close relations with Endre Ady, Árpád Tóth, Ferenc Molnár, Zoltán Ambrus, Sándor Bródy, Gyula Krúdy, Frigie Karinthy. During his life he visited many settlements, but he considered himself a sculptor until the end of his life.
The exhibition features a life-size wax figure of Ernő Szép, a book cave, an interactive text collection and digital content during the museum's opening hours.
